🎚 Host controls for 2D games
This article covers the standard host game controls for 2D game modes.
You can host a 2D game as a spectator or player. This article provides a quick overview of the game controls you'll see as a spectator.
If you host a live 2D game as a player, you'll have some additional player controls depending on the game mode.
When you host a live 2D game as a spectator, your screen will show who you're spectating.
You'll also see several game control buttons in corners of your screen.
Here's what each host game control is and does:
You can find your game code any time in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
Click the game code to enlarge it. If you're projecting your screen or sharing it with your students, this is the best way to blow up the code for late joiners.
When hosting a live 2D game as a spectator, there are next and previous buttons in the lower corners of your screen.
Use these buttons to quickly move between players you're spectating.
The sound button is located in the upper right-hand corner with the rest of your game controls. The icon for this button looks like sound waves.
Click the Sound button to control the volume for the game music and sound effects.
Click the leaderboard button to display the leaderboard on your screen. The icon for this button looks like a little ribbon.
Use the players button to view players in your game. This button has an icon of three people.
While viewing players, click a player's name to spectate or remove them.
Click the red button with the "stop" icon to end your game early.
There will be a popup to confirm that you want to end the game, just in case you hit it by mistake.
The last item in the upper right-hand corner is the game timer. This counts down how much time remains in your game. Players and the host both have the timer in the same position.
Time can be added during the game. Click the game timer to add 1 minute per click.
Time cannot be subtracted during live games. Learn more about adding time during live games here.
