Hacking and Cheating

Hacking and cheating is pretty rare in Gimkit, but to help us pinpoint your concerns we'll need some more information.

We have several questions below that can help us determine what's going on. If you have time, take a look and provide answers to all relavent questions into the email thread that you came here from, or in an email to hello@gimkit.com.

Does your potential hack/cheating situation occur for just Live Games or Assignments? Or both?

Are your students using phones or laptops?

If this is happening for Live Games, we generate reports for each individual student. You can see the instructions for that here. For each student, you’ll see a question breakdown that shows how many times they got a question right/wrong. For the students who you suspect are hacking, does their performance seem suspicious to you? Are they getting any questions wrong at all?

If your potential hack/cheating situation is happening for Assignments: We don’t generate yet generate detailed reports for assignments like we do for live games. What you’ll be able to see in the Assignments page is the student’s accuracy and how long it took for them to complete the assignment. Are the students completing the assignment too quickly? Is their accuracy unexpectedly too high? Does their performance show drastic improvement compared to their previous assignments?

Can you possibly observe the students while they play and walk around the room while they’re answering questions? Do they show a marked decrease in performance while you’re watching them? Do they improve when they think you’re not observing them?
