Yes! It's free to create a Gimkit account and you can use the free version of Gimkit, called Gimkit Basic, as long as you like.
On Gimkit Basic, you can use free modes without any limitations and there are no restrictions on the number of kits you can create or own.
We have just two account types: Educator and Student. Select your account type when you create your free account.
Student accounts have some limitations around safety and security. They're optimized for playing and participating in Gimkit games, while Educator accounts are optimized for hosting games.
Educator accounts can be used for free forever or upgraded to Gimkit Pro to receive access to:
Pro exclusive game modes
Assignments
Audio questions
Image uploads
Yes! New Educator accounts start with a 14-day free trial of Gimkit Pro. Once the free trial expires, educator accounts are moved to Gimkit Basic.
No! Students can play your live games and assignments without needing and account or logging into Gimkit. Your students will need accounts if you want to use classes or if you'd like them to earn XP and purchase cosmetics.
Click into the Settings section of your account using the Me dropdown menu or by visiting gimkit.com/settings. Scroll to the bottom of your account information page and click the carrot by Support to expand that section. Click "Information Gimkit has collected on me." You'll see a window with all of the personal information Gimkit has collected on you. You can review the kinds of information Gimkit collects and why anytime in our privacy policy.
Go to gimkit.com/login, enter your email address, and click "forgot password?" We'll send you an email with a password reset link. Find detailed instructions here.
If you're not receiving password reset or other account emails from us, your school may be blocking our emails or sending them to a spam folder.
Make sure gimkit.com and stripe.com are set up as approved senders in your system to ensure our emails can get through. You can work with your school's IT department to get both domains cleared.
We charge for Gimkit Pro so we can operate, maintain, and improve Gimkit.
We've decided not to allow ads in Gimkit or raise money from outside investors. This approach means we can build Gimkit for educators and students rather than marketers and venture capitalists. The tradeoff is that we rely on support from our members and their schools to keep Gimkit going.
We offer a robust free version called Gimkit Basic.
As a Gimkit Basic member, you can host games, create classes, and collect game reports without any limitations. All free Educator accounts come with a 14-day trial of Gimkit Pro. After that, if you don't want to pay for Gimkit, you can keep using the free version as long as you like.
