Host a live game in class to bring your kits to life and create engaging review experiences!

To host a live game, you'll just need to

Select a kit
Select a game mode
Set up your game options
Share your game code or join link
Start your game

In case you need a little more guidance, here's details on how to start hosting a live game.

You'll start by picking out the kit you want to use. You can host any public kit, but you'll only get game reports for kits you own.

To host a kit, click the green Play Live button to the right of any of your kits in your dashboard or click "Play Live" from the right-hand pane from inside any kit.

Next, you'll see the Mode Picker where you can browse the mode you want to use with your kit.

Click the "New Kit" Button from your Dashboard (Gimkit.com/me)

You can now add questions to your Kit. You have several options (we have help desk articles for all of them). For now, let's pick "Add a Question" so we can create our own questions from scratch.

Adding questions

Create your question by adding your question, correct answer(s) and incorrect answers. To change an answer from correct to incorrect, click the "Check" next to it. You can have as many correct answers as you like. You can also add media to your question here. When you're done with your question, click "Add."

Is it free to create a Gimkit account?

Yes! It's free to create a Gimkit account and you can use the free version of Gimkit, called Gimkit Basic, as long as you like.

On Gimkit Basic, you can use free modes without any limitations and there are no restrictions on the number of kits you can create or own.

What types of accounts are there?

We have just two account types: Educator and Student. Select your account type when you create your free account.

Student accounts have some limitations around safety and security. They're optimized for playing and participating in Gimkit games, while Educator accounts are optimized for hosting games.

Educator accounts can be used for free forever or upgraded to Gimkit Pro to receive access to:

Pro exclusive game modes
Assignments
Audio questions
Image uploads

Is there a way to try Gimkit Pro for free?

Yes! New Educator accounts start with a 14-day free trial of Gimkit Pro. Once the free trial expires, educator accounts are moved to Gimkit Basic.

Do students need accounts?

No! Students can play your live games and assignments without needing and account or logging into Gimkit. Your students will need accounts if you want to use [classe

To keep things simple, we offer two group license levels:

Department - Pro upgrades for up to 20 teachers at $650 per year
School - Pro upgrades for your entire school at $1,000 per year

Our group pricing is designed to be affordable while allowing room for your group to grow.

Your department license can start with 11 teachers and end with 19 without you having to contact us, negotiate new seats, or submit a new purchase order.

Your school license can cover all teachers in a single physical building, or up to 100 across multiple buildings.

If you need to cover a few individual teachers above your seat limit, have your teachers share their Pay for Me Link.

Classes serve a variety of purposes in Gimkit. Here are the primary benefits of setting up and using Classes:

Keep names appropriate in live games
Track assignment progress
Results for multiple assignment completions
Save assignment progress

Here's a quick overview of each of the above:

Keep Names Appropriate in Live Games

While we have an inappropriate language filter inside of Gimkit, it doesn't catch everything. Classes ensure that students will show up in live games with appropriate names only.

When you create a Class, your students will make accounts in Gimkit and join your Class using the link you provide. Once your students are in your Class, they'll show up with the names they've chosen on their accounts. You can edit how their names show up in your Class listing any time.

With Instant Join, your students will join live games automatically without needing the game code! Once joined into the game, your students will show up with the name from your Class. Simple and clean!
